A few people have been asking me about installing English Windows on sub-notebook PCs with smaller HDDs. Here's one way, not needing a CD-ROM. When I install English windows I don't always use the CD-rom: in the original Japanese windows: 1# partition the HDD giving enough space on the spare partition
for Windows install files.
2# copy the install files from your English Windows CD
3# install windows from the partition ( D-drive ) This next part depends on your chosen English OS: Win 9x or ME : RUN setup.exe from within Windows or
type SETUP from D:\ (the exact folder will vary with versions)
NOTES: I use and ship only Toshiba or Sony USB FDD / DVD / CD, I have tested
some others,
If you don't have a CD-Rom you will need a LAN or LAN card
PartitionMagic 7.0 -- Powerquest; Windows 95 / 98 / NT / 2000 / Me /
Other Partition software can also be used. Some partition software maybe "shareware" and can be downloaded from Tucows (I haven't looked there for a while).
